The Holy Trinity

The Holy Trinity

The  study of the Holy trinity is a study of the Divine mystery of God.  The human mind cannot fully understand beyond what the Holy Spirit reveals to man of the Tri-Unity of God.

It is by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit Himself within the believer that we get a clearer picture of this.

This Tri-unity of God is the foundation stone of the Christian Faith.  In researching church history every time  the doctrine of the Trinity has been compromised, the other major Bible tenants also have been compromised or abandoned.

People who deny the Holy Trinity also deny the Deity of Christ, the Virgin Birth, the Vicarious Atonement, the Personality of the Holy Spirit.

The Apostle Paul warned the Church at Ephesus (Acts 20:28-31) of this danger.

We cannot give all the details of this teaching here, however you can study for yourself.

A simple example I taught our children many years ago, was an example of the egg.

It has an outer shell, with a inner egg white containing a egg yoke.

Three individual separate parts, but together they are united into one egg.

We must always trust in the scriptures to show us this truth, for example we see Jesus Himself declared to be one with the Father. John 10:30, John 14:7-11

When John baptized Jesus we see a clear picture – God the Father speaks, and the Holy Spirit descends and sits upon Jesus, all three persons are evident at one time.

Mat 3:16  And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Mat 3:17  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

See also Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:32-34

In John 14:16,26 Jesus speaks of the Father as “He,” of the Holy Spirit as “He” of Himself as “I”.

The Holy Spirit will come when He (Jesus) goes away. In Matthew 28:20 Jesus said “lo, I am with you alway..”

There are three separate identities (not individuals), yet there is ONE GOD, not three.

We see a baptismal formula in Matthew 28:19

Matthew 28:19  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

As you reverentially study the scriptures and in prayer ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself to you more and more.  When He does show you more, acknowledge Him and Give Glory to God, you will find as you grow closer to Him and walk with Him, He will show you things you never dreamed of.
